Governance

The programme is funded via East Sussex County Council (ESCC) who work alongside the five delivery partners to oversee the roll out of the programme.  This oversight takes place through partnership meetings called the Commissioning Platform.

The Commissioning Platform is made up of the ESCC Commissioning Team with the Chief Executive Officers of all five delivery partners and the senioir manager of the programme.  It is supported in this oversight via a series of formal and informal working groups which lead on the design and delivery of key programme areas. These groups include partners, CDWs and wider stakeholders as appropriate.

There are a number of programme activities which are designed to support overall delivery of Making it Happen. These include the ABCD learning programme, an ABCD Community of Practice, engagement with children and young people, evaluation of the programme and the Making it Happen grants programme.

A key aim of the Commissioning Platform is to model asset based approaches and collaboration. This includes championing Asset Based Community Development and opportunities which encourage community led activity and voice in decision making.

The day to day management of the programme is the responsibility of SCDA, while delivery of ABCD in each of the Districts and Boroughs is the responsbility of the local delivery partner:

  • Eastbourne – 3VA
  • Hastings – Hastings Voluntary Action
  • Lewes District – Sussex Community Development Association
  • Rother District – Rother Voluntary Action
  • Wealden District – Action in Rural Sussex
